The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology plays a vital role in driving Oman’s national development through strategic infrastructure projects such as ports and airports. These initiatives not only connect the Sultanate to the world but also support the diversification of income sources and promote sustainable growth across economic, industrial, commercial, and tourism sectors.With an ambitious vision, the Ministry is working to position Oman’s transport and logistics sectors among the top ten globally by 2040, making them a key contributor to national income. Locally, it also regulates land and maritime transport by issuing essential legislation to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance.


In the digital sphere, the Ministry leads efforts to modernize government operations by formulating and implementing national digital strategies. Its mission is to enhance government performance, foster innovation, and boost economic growth through advanced information and communication technologies. Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the Ministry launched the National Program for Digital Economy 2021–2025, which includes the Government Digital Transformation Program. This program unites various government entities to deliver smart services, proactive solutions, and a seamless digital experience for citizens and businesses.



The transformation program is built on key pillars such as open data, community participation, innovative digital applications, and excellence in public service. It emphasizes shared systems and centralized digital infrastructure to improve resource planning and institutional efficiency. Through collaboration with public and private sectors, the Ministry has identified priority projects based on national goals, economic impact, and strategic value. These efforts are designed to create a forward-looking, agile government capable of meeting future challenges and delivering world-class digital services.
