The Electronic Tracking System is a regulatory project under the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MoTCIT) in Oman. It aims to enhance monitoring of land transport vehicles, ensure the safety of logistics operations, and improve fleet management.

Key Features of the Electronic Tracking System:

  • Mandatory Installation: Under Ministerial Decision No. 47/2023, all land transport vehicles, whether locally registered or not, are required to install and operate electronic tracking systems while operating in Oman. (qanoon.om)
  • Violations and Penalties: Tampering with the tracking system or reinstalling it through unauthorized parties is punishable by a fine of OMR 400 for the first offense. Repeat offenses result in doubled fines, and the license is revoked upon the third violation. (qanoon.om)
  • Training and Awareness: The Ministry conducts workshops to train drivers on using the electronic tracking system, ensuring compliance and enhancing their ability to use modern technology.

  • Enhanced Monitoring: Enables authorities to track truck movements and ensure adherence to designated routes and schedules.
  • Safety Enhancement: Reduces accidents caused by overloaded vehicles or unsafe driving practices.
  • Operational Efficiency: Optimizes time and route management, reducing operational costs.
  • Integration with Other Systems: Connects with other initiatives such as Smart Weighbridges and Parking Yards to achieve integrated logistics management.
