Opening of Hadatha Center for Cybersecurity Industry at Sultan Qaboos University

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, represented by the National Cybersecurity Centre (NCERC), in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University, launched the Hadatha Center for Cybersecurity Industry under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, and in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, President of Sultan Qaboos University, and a number of Their Excellencies and relevant institutions.

The Hadatha Center focuses on enhancing the outcomes of the National Cybersecurity Industry Program through knowledge management, ideas, research, and the design of cybersecurity products and services through simulation, modeling, and testing.

The center aims to align with the "Hadatha" Cybersecurity Industry Program, one of the main executive programs of the National Digital Economy Program, in line with Oman Vision 2040. It aims to build a specialized cybersecurity industry with a focus on developing human capital and promoting innovation and creativity to achieve excellence in this vital field in the Sultanate. The center contributes to promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in cybersecurity and modern technologies, achieving the objectives of the program's main themes, and activating the establishment of a link between government agencies, the private sector, and academic institutions. This is achieved by strengthening the National Cybersecurity Innovation Framework developed by the National CERT, and by activating cooperation and partnerships between relevant entities. The center also aims to encourage research, innovation, and development in the field of cybersecurity, enhance the status of the educational community as an attractive environment for innovation, research, and development, and spread the culture of innovation among Omani youth. It also aims to position Oman as a leader in cybersecurity innovation in the Arab region by activating the cybersecurity industry program and its outcomes, including cooperation programs and joint initiatives between relevant entities to support innovation, stimulate promising investments in economic and social development efforts, localize technologies in line with global developments, enhance the skills of Omani youth, and invest their energies in innovating local cybersecurity technology products that are exportable and competitive at the regional and international levels.
