The Sultanate of Oman Participates in the 27th Meeting of the Executive Committee for e-Government in GCC Countries
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, participated in the 27th meeting of the Executive Committee for e-Government in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The meeting was hosted by the State of Kuwait on Monday, with the attendance of Their Excellencies, Heads of e-Government Authorities and Programs in the GCC countries, along with specialists from the GCC General Secretariat.
The Omani delegation was headed by Eng. Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Kharousi, Director General of Digital Transformation and Sector Empowerment at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.During the meeting, the committee discussed several topics on the agenda, including the General Secretariat’s report on the implementation of the decisions made in the 26th meeting, and the initiatives of the Guiding Strategy for e-Government in GCC countries. The discussions also covered topics related to joint electronic services among GCC countries, unified software procurement, as well as initiatives related to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The committee also reviewed the general framework for supporting the application of artificial intelligence in public services within GCC countries, and the general framework for the Climate Prediction and Disaster Management Initiative using artificial intelligence—both of which were developed by the Sultanate of Oman. Additionally, the meeting discussed the criteria for the GCC Digital Government Award.
