MTCIT, Sohar Port Host Workshop on Boosting Logistics in North Al Batinah

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT), represented by the Oman Logistics Center, in cooperation with Sohar Port and Freezone management, organized a workshop this morning titled “Enhancing the Value of the Logistics Sector in North Al Batinah Governorate.” The workshop witnessed broad participation from representatives of government entities, private sector institutions, and a number of experts and stakeholders in the logistics sector.

The workshop aimed to explore ways to enhance North Al Batinah Governorate’s contribution to the logistics sector by highlighting opportunities, initiatives, and challenges facing the sector’s growth. The discussions focused on identifying practical initiatives and high-impact projects that would support the logistics sector’s contribution to the national economy.

 

The program included the presentation of several working papers by the Oman Logistics Center, Sohar Industrial Port, the North Al Batinah branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the North Al Batinah office of Oman Vision 2040. The presentations emphasized the importance of integration among relevant stakeholders, strengthening public-private partnerships, and developing infrastructure and support services for logistics operations.

 

The workshop underscored the strategic advantages of North Al Batinah Governorate, including its prime geographic location and advanced infrastructure, which features modern ports and logistics hubs. These factors position the governorate to attract investments and deliver high-efficiency logistics services.

 

At the same time, the workshop acknowledged a number of challenges currently facing the logistics sector in the governorate. Efforts are underway to identify and analyze these challenges in cooperation with concerned entities, with the aim of developing effective solutions that will overcome obstacles and enhance the performance of the logistics ecosystem.

 

The workshop concluded with a set of preliminary recommendations and initiatives, which will be further developed and monitored in the coming phase, in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. The vision aspires to position the Sultanate of Oman as a leading regional and global logistics hub.

 

This workshop is part of a broader series of programs and initiatives overseen by the Oman Logistics Center, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the logistics sector and creating an enabling and attractive environment for investment, in support of the Sultanate’s national logistics strategy and sustainable development goals.
