MTCIT Showcases Smart, Sustainable Mobility at Green Mobility Exhibition

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology participated in Oman Sustainability Week 2025, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 12 to 14, 2025. This participation is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to support national sustainability goals and adopt innovative solutions that contribute to reducing carbon emissions, particularly in the transport and environmental sectors.

Green Mobility Exhibition

 

As part of the Oman Sustainability Week, the Green Mobility Exhibition was held as the largest national platform showcasing the latest solutions and technologies in the field of smart and sustainable mobility. The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology’s pavilion presented a range of projects and initiatives supporting the transition to low-emission transportation. These included electric vehicle technologies, charging station infrastructure, smart transportation systems, and digital transformation initiatives in the transport sector.

 

Panel Discussions

 

On the first day, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology took part in a panel discussion organized by Asyad Group, which hosted H.E. Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shammakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Transport. During the session, His Excellency witnessed the launch of Asyad Group’s Sustainable Development Impact Disclosure Report, developed in collaboration with the U.S.-based J.P. Morgan. The Ministry also participated in another panel organized by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals to discuss joint efforts toward sustainability and green mobility in the Sultanate.

 

In addition, the week’s events included roundtable discussions and workshops highlighting innovations and policies related to sustainability and green mobility. The Net Zero Team also participated with a working paper showcasing key initiatives and projects in this area.

 

Memorandum of Understanding

 

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EVO and Talabat regarding a pilot project to activate electric bikes for food delivery services in the Sultanate of Oman. The MoU aims to support the Ministry’s Green Mobility Plan by enhancing last-mile services with eco-friendly and sustainable transport solutions that align with the Sultanate’s goals to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

This participation reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology to the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and to enhancing the Sultanate’s position as a regional hub for sustainable transport and clean technologies through ambitious initiatives that contribute to building a low-carbon, resilient future.
