MTCIT Enforces Omanization of Refrigerated Truck Drivers in September

In alignment with the national priorities of Oman Vision 2040 and the objectives of the National Employment Program, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology will intensify its monitoring and inspection operations to enforce the Omanization of the “Refrigerated Truck Driver” profession in all its forms and sizes starting from September 1, 2024. This profession is prohibited from being practiced by non-Omani expatriate workers.
The Ministry emphasizes the need for all owners of land transport activities to adhere to the provisions of this circular and looks forward to collective efforts to achieve the Omanization of this profession. The Ministry’s land transport inspectors will monitor violations and take necessary actions against offenders. The Ministry also calls on all beneficiaries of direct or indirect services of these refrigerated trucks to cooperate and report any violations.
To ensure comprehensive coordination among relevant authorities, the Ministry has made sure to coordinate thoroughly regarding the Omanization of this profession, as stipulated in its powers under the Land Transport Law issued by Royal Decree (10/2016), its executive regulations, and Ministerial Decision No. (235/2022) issued by the Ministry of Labor. The operating permit for this profession will indicate the prohibition of practicing the profession by non-Omanis
