"Engineer It with AI" Competition Kicks Off with 25 Teams Participating

The “Engineer It with AI” competition, organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology in collaboration with the Programming Academy and SAS Media, was launched today. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Nasser bin Rashid Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, and in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shaidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology.

This competition aims to stimulate innovation in the field of generative artificial intelligence, targeting students, job seekers, and professionals interested in developing and using AI technologies. The day’s events began with an introductory workshop that focused on the competition’s objectives, such as promoting innovation, building technical capacities, and nurturing local talent in this evolving field.

 

In her opening speech, Ms. Tuwah bint Abdullah Al Dawood, Head of Development and Studies at the National Center for Space, Advanced Technologies, and Artificial Intelligence and Project Director of the “Engineer It with AI” competition, emphasized the importance of generative AI in driving technological and economic progress. She noted that the competition comes at a time when the world is witnessing rapid advancements in this field. She explained that the competition aims to discover and develop local skills, urging participants to make the most of this opportunity to showcase their abilities and creativity.

 

The agenda for the competition’s launch and the introductory workshop included a variety of activities, starting with welcome remarks from the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology and the Programming Academy. This was followed by a presentation on generative AI by Dr. Youssef Al Balushi, who focused on the impact of generative AI and its diverse applications across various sectors. The workshop also included informative sessions outlining the role of mentors in the competition, along with an explanation of the Learning Management System (LMS) platform, as well as activities aimed at enhancing communication among the participants.

 

The competition includes several stages, beginning with an intensive training camp, followed by the development of technical solutions using generative AI, leading up to the final evaluation and the conclusion of the competition. This competition represents a golden opportunity to foster innovation in the field of generative AI and support the development of advanced technological solutions that can improve lifestyles across various domains.
