Summary: campaign
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology launches the “Stay Safe” campaign to promote road safety on routes leading to Dhofar during the Khareef (monsoon) season.

The awareness campaign, titled “Stay Safe”, aims to raise drivers’ awareness of the importance of using safe roads leading to Dhofar Governorate during the season, with a focus on providing a safe travel environment for all road users. The campaign targets families, citizens, residents traveling by road to Salalah, as well as visitors arriving from GCC countries through land border crossings such as Hafeet and Rub’ al Khali.
The campaign seeks to achieve several objectives, including: raising drivers’ awareness about the importance of safe roads, clarifying recommended and unsuitable routes, and strengthening trust in the readiness of infrastructure and government efforts in this regard.
It particularly encourages drivers, including GCC visitors entering through land borders, to use Sultan Said bin Taimour Road (Adam – Haima – Thumrait), the main dual carriageway considered the safest and most commonly used by travelers. The campaign also advises against using concession area roads, which lack essential services and are not suitable for family trips, with the goal of ensuring travelers’ safety and enhancing their overall experience.
The Ministry affirmed that the “Stay Safe” campaign is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness of road safety and to provide a safe environment for travelers, especially during the Khareef season, when traffic to Dhofar increases significantly.
