Community consultation to choose the name of the unified national application for electric vehicle charging

This consultation comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Net Zero Office and the Communication and Media Department, to engage community members in building the identity of the unified national application for electric vehicle charging. This application will bring together all charging station operators in the Sultanate under one platform supervised by the ministry, and it is considered a strategic step toward enhancing user experience and accelerating the transition to green mobility.
The consultation aims to gage the community's opinions on the most suitable name for the application, either by choosing from a set of proposed names or by providing new suggestions that reflect the users' aspirations and the Sultanate's directions in this field.
Objectives of the consultation:
- Involving the community in the decision-making process related to choosing the app's name, to enhance transparency.
- Building a shared national identity that reflects the aspirations of the Sultanate of Oman in transitioning to sustainable transportation.
- Enhancing community awareness about the transition to electric vehicles and the supporting technologies.
- Measuring the extent of electric vehicle usage in preparation for improving future services.
Consultation period: July 31 to August 9, 2025
Consultation results: The number of respondents reached 144 participants in the consultation dedicated to selecting the most suitable name for the unified national application for electric vehicle charging in the Sultanate of Oman. The results showed a preference for several proposed names, and participants suggested a range of alternative names with environmental, technical, and cultural connotations.
Based on these results, the name (SHAHIN Charger) has been chosen as the official name for the unified national application for electric vehicle charging in the Sultanate of Oman, reflecting a national identity linked to energy and sustainable mobility. The visual identity of the application will be launched and announced soon.
